Thailand at it's BEST

This is what you think about when Thailand comes to mind! Fun, lots of cute Thai girls and just having the time of your life. This is the vibe that comes across when reading through this guide. It's not a guide in the traditional sense - it's better than that.

Let's be real here: What most guys come to Bangkok or Thailand for is the women, party and sunshine. Understandibly.

Thailand really can be that special place where your dream come true - at least in terms of lifestyle. It's a place where no matter their age, people seems to enjoy themselves. Perhaps it's the culture combined with local hospitality. It's not for nothing that Thailand is called the Land of Smiles!

This is your life. Make it epic!

I wasn't aware that Bangkok was such an amazing playground for online dating. (Only thought paid sex is available, but not so much regular girls). Another thing that stood out was how quickly and easily you are able to meet women. What would otherwise take you years in your regular live can be experienced in a matter of days here in Thailand/Bangkok.

For most of us the flight to Bangkok might be more expensive than going somewhere close by for vacation, but the experience is definitely worth it.

I personally think any men should visit Thailand at least a couple of times in his life. To experience what it feels like to live in abundance of women (even if it's only illusionary). That really does something for you.

Lastly, there's nothing wrong with going to places like Thailand to get women more easily than in your home country. Some people might think that makes you a loser, I disagree and would argue it's actually a smart move.
Hotter women, more easily? Sounds like a good deal.

This is your life anyway, so don't let anyone stop you. Go, have fun!

Single Man's Paradise!

Fairly entertaining read and based on my experience, it's pretty accurate. If you're going to Thailand and partake in adult activities, this should be your how to guide. It's shows how anyone can have a good time there, but also gives valuable advice to avoid trouble and stay safe.

Thailand, or Bangkok for that matter, can really be a paradise on earth, but you gotta know the rules to really enjoy your stay. Taking some of the precautions suggested - especially when meeting girls - is easy and provides calm of mind.

I absolutely loved the honesty. There's an entire chapter where he talks about the failures, the embarrassing moments, where dates didn't go well and the-like. Really fascinating to read as it's rare that you'll find somebody talk about failure that openly. It paints a more realistic picture and shows that while Thailand can be your playground, you'll never get 100% of the girls you meet.

With so many choices (and girls) it's great to have some guidance and this book will definitely same you money by avoiding scams and tourist traps!

Finally a prayer book for Isians!

Like all of Alana's Isis products this is sure to please the Isian reader. The book is smaller than expected, but I like the portability. With this first printing the cover is a fully integrated padded hardback cover (no paper cover). I am a very tactile person and I really like the smooth feel and handling of the book.

Inside you will find one incantation page facing a full color picture page (nice layout). In the introduction it says this book is for the everyday reader and I like the portability and ease of usage since I have tight work schedule. I think this book is more approachable than her oracle deck for the novice reader (or those who don't want to use a deck). Be aware, even though many aspects of the deck cards are incorporated into the book I would not consider it an exact duplicate. I think there is something new to be gained with the information contained wherein. The one guiding factor in all the incantations/prayers is that of unconditional love. If this is something you are not into, this book is NOT for you. Also, the idea of letting magick go into the world and forgetting about your work on it is also translated throughout the book. Those who are looking for a devotional and prayer book of Isis will find the inspiration in this book, but the leanings are definitely rooted in basic magick philosophy.

The main draw back of this book is that there is no table of contents. The other detractor is that even the titles on each prayer page don't always incorporate the use of that prayer (i.e. Healing, Overcoming obstacles, etc.) so that you need to read into the first paragraph to know (or remember) which use that prayer is for. I believe with time and usage this will be less of an issue.

Overall, I really like this book, but would like to see more structure for the busy user.

I was actually expecting some new material with this book, but if you already have the Isis Oracle deck, this isn't new material (which I do). I would still purchase the book (it is small) for the simplicity and the artwork. The artwork is the same from the deck, as well as the excerpts she uses for the book, but still worth the purchase.

An outstanding addition. . .

. . .to an outstanding series.
I used other volumes in the Aramaic Bible series while in seminary, so it seemed only logical, now that I have begun teaching, to continue to do so. The Targum of the Minor Prophets has proven to be a valuable addition to my course materials on the Minor Prophets, provoking much excellent class discussion, and shedding light on difficult passages in this portion of Scripture.
Any serious student of the Minor Prophets, whether Christian or Jewish, should pay serious attention to this excellent work.
I highly recommend it.

Should the Aramaic translator said something different about Jonah and the Whale?

My reviews of the two volumes Targum Neofiti 1: Genesis and Targum Pseudo-Jonathan: Genesis give information about this 19 volume series that presents an English translation of the Aramaic translations of the Hebrew Bible. This is volume 14 of the series. It renders the Aramaic translation of the twelve "minor prophets" into English and points out how the translators gave us a non-literal rendering and how they inserted their own views; views they felt their readers need to know. Reading their translations, we might feel that they should have made additional changes.

It should be noted that despite the current title "minor prophets," these prophets are not considered "minor" people or "minor" books by Jews and Christians. The term "minor" signifies that the writings are brief. The twelve volumes were collected into a single book because of their small size, but each prophet had his own message to his own audience, in his own particular time, and each spoke differently. The following are some examples of how one of these Aramaic translators altered and did not alter the prophets' messages.

The story of Jonah and the whale is one of the twelve. The translator adds information several times in the first three verses to emphasize that the word that came from the Lord to Jonah was a "prophecy." He disparages the behavior of the frightened sailors during the storm at sea; they didn't "cry out": "each man prayed to his idol, but they saw that it was useless." The biblical book has the name "Hebrew," which was what non-Israelites called Israelites, but the translator substituted the name used when he was writing, "Jew."

While rational Jewish and non-Jewish thinkers consider the episode of the fish swallowing Jonah and keeping him alive in its belly for three days a parable, the Aramaic translator renders this verse without any change. Similarly, while he changes virtually every other passage in Jonah in some way, he renders "And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it threw Jonah up on the dry land," without any change.

In 1944 Horkheimer and Adorno warned that industrial society turns reason into rationalization, and Polanyi warned of the dangers of the self-regulating market, but today, argues Stiegler, this regression of reason has led to societies dominated by unreason, stupidity and madness. The thinkers of poststructuralism Lyotard, Deleuze, Derrida must be re-read, as must the sources of their thought, Hegel and Marx. But we must also take account of Naomi Klein's critique of Milton Friedman and the Chicago School and her account of the 'shock doctrine'. In fact, argues Stiegler, a permanent 'state of shock' has prevailed since the beginning of the industrial revolution, intensified by the creative destruction brought about by the consumerist model. The result has been a capitalism that destroys desire and reason and in which every institution is undermined, above all those institutions that are the products par excellence of the Enlightenment the education system and universities.

Through a powerful critique of thinkers from Marx to Derrida, Stiegler develops new conceptual weapons to fight this destruction. He argues that schools and universities must themselves be transformed: new educational institutions must be developed both to take account of the dangers of digitization and the internet and to enable us to take advantage of the new opportunities they make available.

This is in essence a call for a new Enlightenment, one appropriate to our digital age.

Disappointing

The author hits all the right buttons, demonstrating that the decline of knowledge and the rise of stupidity in today's world is a result of the global capitalist, consumerist civilization that has essentially taken over the world, but his prescriptions are basically mandates for reform of the universities without meaningful details, whereas a full-scale overcoming of capitalism is what is needed. However, the biggest problem with the book is its excessive amount of philosophical jargon that renders is almost unreadable. "Pharmacological", "tertiary retention", "transindividuation", "internation", "organology", etc., fill page after page, leading to either mental exhaustion of the feeling that a lot of words cover up a big lack of genuine proposals. When you read sentences like "Tertiary retentions are technical realities that evolve, and thus psychic individuation constantly de-functionalizes and re-functionalizes itself on the hypomnesic plane" on and on and on, you begin to feel . . .well, stupid!
