Nope. Just Nope.

This is the fifth book in The Angel Pack Series. To make sense of this series you need to read them in order -- With Dante's Mates (Beyond the Angel Pack) before this one.

Yes, I've read every book in this series. I've done a few reviews. Unfortunately this one didn't work for me and I'll give the reasons why.

SPOILERS

Thanksgiving already happened in Dante's Mates. Yet this story starts out with a step back in time. We hear about Thanksgiving and a guest downstairs but none of the chaos. It's like Raffy and Christian are in a bubble, unexposed to the outside world as Raffy heals. We see a bit of what happened in the last book with Dante, Dare, and Dale having trouble with their mating.

So then it's Christmas and gift giving. Time moves on as Raffy heals and Christian works to gain his mate's trust. The focus on this story is Raffy's mating and his impact on Micah's Pack.

Many of the events are concluded in this story. We finally hear what happened to Seth. Remember, he was imprisioned in the last book along with his mate. In this story he's questioned. While I'm happy with how things turned out. . . Yes, Seth and his mate are sent away but then we never hear from Seth. Storm survives the purging but nothing on Seth. And then there's the blow up with Gabriel and Taylor. A big fight and no resolve. Taylor was really upset with Gabe.

And that's the way this story went. We have a scene and some things are left out.
Like Micah punching Ryland and nothing about the Fae King suffering with a bruised up face. Or if he was healed.
Cass and Gabriel were shot with silver. Nothing about getting them medical help once they were rescued. Events go on around them but nothing on their care, not even from their mates.
What happened to the rogues with their leaders gone.
Ryland and Phenex need to resolve their issues.
Of all things - I thought they were typos / grammatical errors when Noah spoke. I'd completely forgotten he talks in fragments.

I was bored at the many smex scenes. I wanted more of the plot to unfold or be solved. And it wasn't just the many romps once Raffy and Christian get their act together. It's everyone in the series, up to this point, has got something to say about everything. New shoes and dress? Everyone comments. Going shopping? Everyone has to hear what they bought. A black cat? Let's all go to the kitchen and see what that's about. A rescue planned and executed? Sure, we just read all about it happening -- Let's all gather and sit to hear how that happened. And read it all over again.

Yes, I'll admit. I did a lot of page skipping in this one. It didn't satisfy, I ended up interested in the unresolved side plots than what was happening in Raffy's bed. I mean I was waiting on some runners to go out and communicate with other paranormals and establish some temporary leadership. But no, instead we get a trip to the local club and the story ends. I would have liked some resolve between the complaining warriors and Jesse. Or a confession to their alpha. No, it just didn't work for me.

I hope the next story will focus on restructuring the paranormal world and rebuilding trust between species. And a glossary. - Dan's Wife

Inventive fairy tale for adults

I give this 4 stars because of the amount of inventive fantasy - the different kinds of powers unleashed, the ways everybody seems to have a role to play in their battle against the evil. BUT I grew a bit tired of all the tears flowing and all the sad glances given all the time. Everybody is entitled to tears from time to time - even the big bad wolf king. But so much and so often!?

I enjoyed the different kinds of cross-dressing featured here. I don't think I have read about that previously.

The MC in this story are said to be Raphael and Christian and their way towards mating is there. All the way from the first meeting between the scared and psychically scarred Raphael, rescued after five years of captivity and Christian, through weeks of patient companionship and wooing to the final mating - the necessary event for revealing Raphael's powers.

I have read "Trust" and wanted to know what would happen next. In this story the evil has struck against the leaders of the paranormal world. And this time they needed both the physical strength of the Alpha and his enforcers AND the psychic powers of the the mates. The heart, the guardian, the omega, the witch and the familiar joined the powers and not only freed Jesse from the spell that locked his mind, but turned Malachi's spells against himself.

Since the two villains are not dead, I suppose there are more stories to come, but for now they are detained.

Underneath is just fantastic.

I loved book 5 of the Angel Pack. I can't wait for each of Maggie Walsh's books to come out. This book involves the lovely Raffy and his mate Christian. Raffy has spent years being tortured by the ever-present bad guys and is finally saved and brought back to his family. Christian is just amazing, so loving and caring. Not wanting to hurt Raffy further he waits until Raffy makes the moves on him before claiming him. Lots of tension in the book and lots of tears flowed as the characters dealt with all their pain. A wonderfully written book. Highly recommend it. Thanks Maggie Walsh, and keep writing.

Long and drawn out

This book was slow. Seems like the 3 books currently in series could've been condensed to 2 books easily. The journal entries/lyrics/whatever that is in italics is very distracting in pretty irritating- used WAY to often. I am not sure if I will give the next book a shot or not and certainly hope that's the last book of series. It's becoming to long and drawn out.

How many more in this series?

I'm going to be honest and say that I'm a tad bit annoyed with the fact that nothing much really happened in this book. It felt to me like a filler book when for some reason I thought it was the final in the series, at this point I feel like the plot is dragging. I hope that the next one that comes out later this spring will be the continuation of this story otherwise I just might save my money and give up on these two...

Every book I think I love her more

I’ve raved about this series so much because of how much much lighter (in a way) and different it is than her other series. Even though it still has some mystery and emotional times, it still has so many moments that make me smile. And that reason is still Lyric. Every book I think I love her more. I love her upbeat and optimistic outlook. She is exactly what Ayden needs. Especially right now.

Ayden is going through a rough time. Looking for this sister, looking for answers about his past. It’s a lot to handle. Therapy isn’t working as well as they’d hope and he still can’t remember much. Plus, ‘they’ are still after him. Someone is still out there watching him. He’s finding it hard to cope.

Ayden’s life is falling apart in one way, but in another way, it’s coming together completely. He has Lyric. Lyric Scott, his best friend and girlfriend. Even though he feels like he doesn’t deserve her, he has her completely. He has her friendship, which means everything to him, but he’s also ready. Ready to try to take things a little farther. Adyen makes huge strides in this installment.

Lyric is still the best character Jessica has written. She is so fun and lovable. She’s caring, giving and has the best attitude. She is always there for her Shy Boy. She is everything Ayden needs in a girlfriend and friend and always lets him know that he is good enough for her. I also love the relationship she has with her parents. There was a certain scene or two that had me laughing with Micha… ;)
 Honestly, I thought Awakening You was going to be the final book in this series so I was a little surprised when things didn’t start to wrap up in the end. I think this could have been a bit longer and concluded, but who am I to complain there is going to be more Lyric and Ayden?

The resulting picture not only sheds new light on Aquinas's ontology as a whole, but provides a wholesale alternative to the standard contemporary accounts of material objects.

In addition to presenting and explaining Aquinas's views, Brower seeks wherever possible to bring them into dialogue with the best recent literature on related topics. For a book on clear wrting, this book isn't clear.

I will start by saying what I think is right about this book. It is packed with helpful information. The writer can deliver helpful insights. The book is decently priced.

Here are my complaints about this book. The book is poorly organized. The writer uses words that she doesn't understand the actual meaning of. For example, the word "paradigm" is so misused I find it offensive. The writer uses words like, generally, sometimes, probably, maybe, and possibly in such a manner that it is jolting and choppy, and leaves the reader wondering about the confidence you could have in the information. Chapter 7-12 could benefit from rewriting, and organizing into the actual order that a person would encounter in constructing the memo from the material. As it is not organized in this manner, the reader is forced to flip back and forth, and hunt haphazardly for connecting ideas and materials. Also, the way the writer repeats the phrases repeatedly makes the information harder to digest, and easier to get confused. Entire sections of the book could be truncated and the reader would benefit drastically.

All this being said, the topic subject was probably not easy to write about, and considerable effort was probably put into the book. Generally, you could commend the author on these grounds. See how jilting that type of writing is.)

This is not one more book, but the foundation of a theory not yet understood and much more not yet accepted. It opens new frontiers in biology and life sciences. The role of electromagnetism is vital to the concept of life. Each cell should not be considered and studied as one unit, but as part of one organism (my though is that maybe the one organism should be considered as part of one ecosystem). If you are trying to answer how external electromagnetic fields can affect a living organism, then you will find unique the idea that field intensity is not the criterion. Weak fields can be more important than strong fields.

This book is an excellent monograph that discusses the role of the electromagnetic fields and waves in the phenomena of Life. The first chapter is a summary of the relevant results from electromagnetic theory pertaining to the interaction of fields and waves with material media. Only the results are quoted and the reader is referred to specialized texts such as Landau & Lifshitz "Electrodynamics of Continuous Media".

In the second part of this book, by far the largest, the author surveys and summarizes almost 50 years of experimental research - until 1967 - on the electromagnetic phenomena and Life. These experiments cover the interactions of static and dynamic fields with biological macro-molecules, unicellular organisms, plants, animals, humans as well as the intrinsic electromagnetic phenomena to the living systems (such as skin surface electric fields).

After reading this section, I was left with no doubt as to the reality of the influence of external electromagnetic fields and waves on biological systems.

The third part of this book is a discussion of potentially productive areas for further research in the light of the common results of these experiments. Here the author suggests a number of broad areas of research together with a bit of speculation about what could be explained by the results of those future researches. In effect, he is recommending a research program in this part of the book.

One feature of this book is 47 pages of references to original scientific literature - many of them unfortunately in Russian.

I agree with the first reviewer and I think this book is worth reading from cover to cover.

Highly recommended as great scientific monograph.
