Nice book, but not the best title.

This is a great book to get excited about green roofs. Nice pictures, well researched, all around nicely done. The only issue I have with it however, is that the title gives the impression that it's a guide to design, installation and maintenance. From a high-level perspective (if you're not the one slinging the hammer and raw materials) this may be true. But if you're a DIY'er (like me) you'll probably feel totally starved for details, dimensions and diagrams. There is one REALLY basic image of the layering that goes on, but it's an appetizer to a main course that never gets served. I'm going to keep this book because (for what it is) it's really nice. But If you're looking for "A Professional Guide to Design, Installation and Maintenance", try something else - these are not the droids you're looking for. Okay, maybe that's not a good closing line because in the film, they WERE the droids they were looking for where this book isn't... eh, I enjoy the reference too much to change it though. Best luck on YOUR green roof!

I was looking for a book to teach me how to design and install a living roof on my home. This book is for contractors and for homeowners who plan to use a contractor. It is not a "how-to" manual for the do it yourself person.

I am not happy with this book there is no good how to's.There is 0 diagrams or drawings on drainage or edging details. It was a waist of money
